Phuong Nguyen, PMHNP is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from Wilkes University in Pennsylvania where she specialized in psychiatric mental health. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southern New Hampshire University and Bachelor of Science in Cell Biology and Physiology from University of Paris VII – Denis Diderot, France. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Phuong worked with patients struggling with diverse mental health concerns, including depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, ADHD, autism, and dementia as well as other challenging conditions while being a student nurse practitioner. Phuong takes a holistic approach to mental health treatment combining medication management with counseling techniques and lifestyle modifications. She values collaboration with her interdisciplinary team to develop individualized treatment plans for each patient. She is passionate about empowering, educating, and advocating for her patients to promote overall mental health and well-being.
Phuong has worked as a registered nurse for six years where she provided care to patients in diverse settings including the skilled nursing rehabilitation facility and dialysis. Many of her patients suffer from depression and anxiety due to chronic pain and decreased quality of life. Phuong believes in attentively listening to her patients and their families, individualizing their care by considering medical, social, economic, and cultural factors, and empowering patients with the appropriate information to make informed decisions about their care. When not consulting her clients, Phuong enjoys gardening, reading, traveling, hiking, watching sports, and spending time with her family.
